Average Joe covers a few things in this email but the main objective is to demonstrate how to write the correct type of sales letter. I have posted the email below so have a read and I will summarise afterwards:
Welcome to Part 1 of the Average Joe
Marketer e-mail course. During this
series of emails, I'm going to take you
through the SIX most important factors
to consider when constructing the perfect
sales letter.
And don't worry if you've not written a
sales letter before... That's exactly why
I'm here! You see, even if you've not
written copy in your life, as long as you
know a few basics rules, your sales letter
should still convert well... and pretty
soon, you'll be writing great sales copy
without even thinking about it!
Here are some of the basics that you need to
bear in mind when writing your sales letter:
Top Tip #1 - Write a Captivating Headline
This is arguably the most important part of
your sales letter. You only have a few seconds
to grab your reader's attention so you need
to make sure that this time isn't wasted. Your
headline has to be intriguing, enticing and
powerful, and it MUST make your prospect
want to read further down the page in order to
find out more about what you are selling...
One really effective method I've found of
capturing your visitor's attention is to ask
a question within your headline:
1. "Do You Suffer From Erectile Dysfunction?"
2. "Are You Making At Least $500 Per Week
Using Online Advertising?"
3. "Do You Want To Teach Your Parrot How To
Talk In 30 Days?"
And in order to captivate your reader, you need
to include certain 'trigger' words to improve
your response rate.
This is your only chance to capture your visitors'
attention. Put yourself in their shoes. What
would make you stop what you're doing and start
reading the sales letter?
Top Tip #2 - Don't use NEGATIVE Words -
Next up I'm going to reveal exactly what kind
of words you shouldn't be using (this is just
as important as what you should!). You see, there
are some words that illicit a negative response
from customers and it's vital that you steer
clear of these if you want to make lots of sales.
Firstly, it's better not to mention anything
about money while you're trying to convince a
visitor to purchase your product. The words "b.u.y"
and "purchase" for example, are far too literal
and potential customers may be put off if your
sales copy is too pushy. Always remember,
visitors don't want to "pay" for anything.
They would rather "invest" their money, as this
denotes a positive step in terms of their future,
and not a one-off impulse b.u.y. Similarly, they
would rather "secure" their membership than
"order" it.
Also, the word "learn" has certain negative
connotations. People looking for instant answers
on the internet don't want to have to "learn"
anything, because that requires work! They want
their problem to be solved instantly, so the path
of least resistance would be to "discover" how
to make money instead of "learn" how to make
money.
So try to avoid negative trigger words whenever
possible. This will give your sales letter the
best possible chance of success!
Here are some other negative trigger words:
Failure, Difficult, Death, Obligation, Wrong,
Owe, Worse, Deny, Fail, Decision, Bad, Deal,
Cost, Sell, Loser, Taxes, Worry, Loss, Hard,
Contract, Deny, Regret, Liability.
That's it for today...
But stay tuned for Part 2 where I'll reveal two
more tips for writing the perfect sales letter!
All the best,
Joe
Ok so that was some useful information, basically giving the very basics of writing promotional material. Do not get me wrong this information is the same as what you would learn in a sales and marketing company. To begin with a question is rule 1, make the consumer stop and think because this means that they are responding to you and your question. Avoiding negative words is very important as well because you should never make the mood depressive, keep it positive because people are proactive in a positive environment. And that "fear of loss" is the best way to bait humans, we always are scared on what we are missing out on.
Alright all in all so far Average Joe Marketer is giving good information lets see what else he brings to the table.
